Excursions to the temple of Angkor can conveniently be divided into two routes - the first of them is the Small Circle, the second one has a conventional name the Big Circle. As a rule, for each route one day is allotted. As you might guess, the Big Circle is longer than the small one, it is 35 km from a hotel to a hotel, and here is what you can see on this route:
Despite the longer route, the time taken for this tour is less than for the small circle, because the tamples themselves are not so large, and their seeing is faster. As for the small circle, a ticket is also needed: one-day ticket is $ 37, three-day one is $ 63, and seven-day ticket is $ 72.
Each temple of a large circle in its own unique, but special place is the temple of Banteay Srei. Banteay Srei is a temple situated at a distance of 25 kilometers from the main buildings. This temple is very popular among tourists due to its safety. Many bas-reliefs and statues in it look "almost like new." Translated from Khmer, Bantei Srey means the Citadel of the Woman. This temple outstands among all Khmer temple buildings with its high artistic features and gracefulness of decor. The complex consists of three towers, where there are libraries and sanctuaries. Two libraries are made of gray sandstone, and the sanctuary is made of light pink stone.
The excursion Big Circle usually takes place on the second day after visiting the main tamples that are situated along the route of the small circle.
Banteay Srei is located 25 km away from the main group of tamples. Translated from the Khmer, this temple's name means "woman's citadel." Among other khmer tamples, Banteay Srei distinguishes with its artistic qualities and elegant decorations. The temple complex consists of three towers with libraries and sanctuaries. Two libraries are built of grey sand, while sanctuaries are built of light pink stone.
